"River to River" follows the coast line from the River Mersey, in the South, to the River Ribble in the North. The area is defined by the two river estuaries and the limits of accessibility caused by the bodies of water. The project attempted to show the changes in use along this thin ribbon of land: from re-claimed marsh, through tourist activities to the container base at Seaforth Docks. This project was started in 1985 and continued intermittently until 1990. I made the photographs using a 5x4 camera and a selection was published by Cafe Royal books in August 2019. The work was recently exhibited at The Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool as part of my "Proximity" exhibtion.
