I have photographed different aspects of what might loosely be described as "landscape" for over forty years and what has always attracted me has been evidence of people upon an environment. The "New Topographics"movement did have an influence on me; especially after having attended a workshop with Lewis Baltz. I also have an awareness of the idealised or picturesque landscape tradition and perhaps this tension between notions of beauty, qualities of light and traces of human activity are the main influences in much of my work.
