Southport Structures

I lived in Southport for about twenty five years and when I became a photographer I photographed many different aspects of my home environment - especially the people and the landscape.

Southport is bordered on one side by the sea and coastline, and on the other by flat fields and farmland. The flat land was dominated by a Gasometer - a well known landmark (since demolished) and the coast had a variety of peculiar structures, many catering for the dwindling influx of tourists during the summer months.

I photographed these contrasting structures in the landscape off and on for about eight years from the mid 1980's until the early 1990's using 5x4 and medium format cameras.
