"River to River" follows the coast line from the River Douglas, that flows into the River Ribble in the North, to the River Mersey in the South. The area is defined by the two river estuaries and the limits of accessibility caused by the bodies of water. The project attempted to show the changes in use along this thin ribbon of land: from re-claimed marsh, through tourist activities to the container base at Seaforth Docks. This project was started in 1985 and continued intermittently until 1990. The photographs were made using a 5x4 camera. A selection was published by Cafe Royal books in August 2019. We are currently working on an updated phase 2.
