I became very interested in photographing the flat farmland in West Lancashire and the Hightown, Altcar and Crosby areas.
This flatness posed a difficult photographic problem and I became a little obsessed with recording the transformative effects of mist, snow, crop rotation and the light of the rising and setting sun.
I was also interested in romantic notions of the landscape and with exploring the balance between pictorial considerations and more topographical depictions of the land.
