Christmas Cribs - or Nativity Scenes - appear in the weeks preceding Christmas in a variety of locations and forms. They can be very homespun or highly professional, some made by local school children and others by charities and councils. I became interested the quirkiness of the cribs and the diversity of placement and photographed them during the winters of 1982 to 1986. I revived the project in 2018 and, in some cases, revisited the locations of the cribs from the 1980's. This gallery shows the photographs from the earlier project. A selection was published by Cafe Royal Books and is available on our Photodeck web site.
