This project, intended to be semi-humourous, dealt with the plight of shopping trolleys in various situations and locations. A selection was shown at The Bluecoat in 1990 and the project came to an end in the early 1990's. The trollies somehow became anthropomorphised and I started to feel sorry for their predicament. There has been a resurgence of interest in the project and the work has been re-edited, expanded and shown here complete for the first time. Shopping trolleys out of context are seen less often now because of the £1 deposit needed for their use and return, however their prescence in incongruous places has become a visual cliche.
